In rough-sanding mode it surpassed my expectations and quickly leveled glued-up panels with 80 and 100 grit discs. In fine-sanding mode using 120, 150, and 180 discs it did all it was expected to do and then some. As I had this sander hooked up to a CT22 dust collector, there was nary a speck of dust to be found - try doing that with any old belt sander. It also had the side benefit of keeping the sanding discs clean and extending their longevity. This reduces consumable costs. I am giving this machine four stars as opposed to five because Festool did not include a side handle option as is the case with the RO 150. Including a side handle would result in better control and cooling as the sander gear housing does have a tendency to get hot during extended use.
